When it comes to bridal hair Hampshire brides trust Karen’s advice. Here’s some commonly asked questions and answers.

Which locations do you cover?

Karen lives in Portsmouth and works day-to-day from Mellors Hair Studio in Old Portsmouth, Southsea.  She travels to weddings all throughout Hampshire and charges a reasonable price for travel time and petrol, as shown on the pricing page.

I have sensitive skin. What products do you use?

A variety of tried and tested professional and natural products are used.  Depending on your needs and skin types, we are practiced in using the right products for you.  Please let us know in advance.

Do I need a bridal hair trial?

A trial is always recommended to give you a chance to try the styles of your choice and ensure you are completely happy and confident with them.

Karen wants you to feel as relaxed as possible on the morning of the big day knowing exactly how your chosen style will look.

When should I arrange my wedding hair trial?

There’s no definitive time frame, however, most brides have their first trial around 3 months before the wedding.

But if you prefer to have yours earlier or later, that’s fine and normal too. Karen will be pleased to do whatever is best for you.

What happens in the trial?

In preparation of the trial, it is useful for you to collect images of styles you like most. This helps Karen gain a visual idea of what you are looking for.

If you intend to wear a veil, tiara or hair accessories on the wedding day, please bring them along to the trial and Karen can help you with care tips for the big day.

If you still haven’t decided on veil/tiara/hair accessories, don’t panic!

Once Karen creates the style that you’re completely happy with, she’ll take photos to guide her memory on the wedding day.  Copies of these pictures can be sent to you for free if you wish.

What if i'm not happy after my trial?

There’s no rush and no pressure. Take as long as you need to discover the right look for you.  You may even wish to try a variety of stylists to see which you prefer.

A trial is not a commitment and you never need to book until you are 100% assured.

What if I change my mind?

If you change your mind and want to try a different style, don’t worry!  Karen is happy to arrange another trial or as many as you wish to make you feel comfortable!

How do I book?

Karen manages all her own bookings and can confirm her availability directly.
Once you’re happy with your trial, all that’s required to confirm your booking is a 50% deposit, with the balance payable in full on the day.

How can I pay?

Payment can be made by bank transfer, cash, cheque or credit/debit card. .
